Original production cel of Goku from Dragon Ball Z (1989), produced by Toei Animation. This piece appears in Episode 21, during the quiet interlude when Goku completes his training with King Kai. It shows him focused and listening intently, moments before his master acknowledges the end of their months of intense preparation.

Created under the supervision of Director Daisuke Nishio and Chief Animation Director Minoru Maeda, this cel exemplifies the sharp linework and saturated tones that defined early Dragon Ball Z episodes. Goku’s expression here marks a turning point in the Saiyan Saga, capturing his balance between humility and strength as he prepares to return to battle.

The cel was photographed on 35 mm film and numbered within the “26” cut range, consistent with the scene’s production markings.

This cel has the defining aesthetic of Toei’s late-1980s action animation, where Maeda’s controlled anatomy and clean shadows gave Dragon Ball Z its cinematic presence.
